We invite you to join us on a journey back to the years of the Vaudeville stage, the wonderful seminal jazz piano and vocal of the early era of boogie woogie, blues and jazz. What show today combines the whole entertainment package of jazz piano and vocals with stand-up comedy and dance, and a dazzling star-quality presentation that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats?
In "Nashville to Vaudeville!" you'll see comedy reminiscent of the comedy couples of the past, such as Burns and Allen, WC Fields and Mae West, and Abbot and Costello, in between beautiful renditions of the songs of that creative era. Tammy's soulful voice, influenced by the female jazz royalty, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and Billie Holiday, has inspired audiences at every performance. Jamey's prodigious piano style, reminiscent of the stride and left hand walking bass lines characteristic of the early era of jazz, and his Art Tatum-inspired right hand, is a distinguishing standout in their show.
The show opens with a medley of Gershwin songs, beginning with the classic, "You Can't Take That Away From Me", to the energetic "I Got Rhythm", and finishing with the soulful blues influenced ballad "Summertime". From there the show continues the musical journey, revisiting the hits and comedy of the era, and ending with the most famous dance of the 20th century.
"Nashville to Vaudeville!" is surprising and energetic, taking you to comical highs and inspiring nostalgia for the golden era of the stage. The audience will feel a full range of emotions, from laughter to tears, and each person young and old will be moved by the experience.
